Service updates during COVID-19 Pandemic

GEiC services in Week of 3/23/2020

Following WUSM’s guidelines to ramp down nonessential research, the GEiC has to make following changes to services. We will update on a weekly basis.

CRIPSR reagent validation

Quotes will be given out, and project designs will be done and sent back to investigators for approval. The turnaround time for validation of the reagents in cells cannot be guaranteed.

Cell line projects

New projects: quotes will still be given out and project designs will be done and sent back to investigators for approval. However, we will not start lab work on any new projects. All new projects will be put in queue.

Current projects: most ongoing projects are being frozen down at various stages so that they can be brought back as soon as we are back to normal. Some slow growing cell line projects that can be maintained with a weekly change of medium are kept going to avoid losing months of time.

Genotyping services

We will still support mouse genotyping for founders and accept NGS samples. However, turnaround time can be longer. We will not do new genotyping assay development.

Mycoplasma tests

We will still take mycoplasma test requests. Samples might be frozen down at -80 and be tested at a later time.

Patient sample processing, iPSC reprogramming and differentiation

We will not take new projects at this time.

The above restrictions do not apply to COVID-19 research.
